Afterschool Classes
CLay and Metal
(2x/wk, TEENS ENTERING middle&high school)
After school Programming at The Clay School of Ithaca covers comprehensive instruction in ceramic sculpture and wheel thrown work. Students will work alongside faculty to create individual works specific to their particular interests. Topics in sculpture will cover methods of building, attaching, installing, and investigating surface treatments in ceramic.
Hammer, form, shape, texture, resin, sand, stamp, roll, oxidize, patina, etch, dap, saw, and cut your way through this fun after school program at The Metal Smithery! You will be given the tools and instruction on various equipment and methods to work on your own jewelry projects to create everything from resin rings to skull earrings to I love you bracelets. The possibilities are endless and every finished piece of jewelry will be something you will be proud to say, yes, I did make this!
We try to base our youth programs off the community’s needs. If you know a group of parents looking for an afterschool offering/time, let us know and we’ll see if we can add it to a future schedule*. >>>

Clay Only After school sessions
(1x/wk-THURS, youth 8-13 years old)
These 13 sessions can be booked individually OR all at once! Sessions can even be purchased up to 2 hours before a class starts, if seating is available
Students will get their hands in all things moldable: fired clay, polymer clay, air dried clay; with a splash of fiber arts and painting. Some projects will include jewelry making and functional food-safe creations. Students will learn how to work with clay and throw on the pottery wheel. Hand-building methods such as slab, coil and pinch will be also be taught in addition to working on the wheel. This will be a messy good time that you won’t want to miss!

Gift a class
Gift certificates may only be used to purchase programming (e.g. classes, lessons, try-it workshops). They are not valid for supplies or memberships. Gift certificates can be purchased in a variety of monetary values ranging from $25-$400.
