Kids Classes

After School Programs:

Join us at at The Clay School in Ithaca on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 4:30-6:30 for beginners sculpting and wheel throwing. Together we’ll work through a variety of projects and group challenges using clay and a combination of methods like coil, slab, and pinch to create our individual pieces.

Early Fall Session is 1X/Week

After school Programming at The Clay School of Ithaca covers comprehensive instruction in ceramic sculpture and wheel thrown work. Students will work alongside faculty to create individual works specific to their particular interests. Topics in sculpture will cover methods of building, attaching, installing, and investigating surface treatments in ceramic. Programming will be offered Wednesday through Friday from 4:30-6:30pm. Boynton LACS and IHS can ride school bus 73 from the high school (Please check the box in registration to secure your spot). There is a TCAT bus that leaves south hill business campus at 6:20 to downtown.

Clay and Metal

 Late Fall Session is 2X/ Week

The Metalsmithery and The Clay School are teaming up for a special combination offering for Middle and High School  students (separately) this fall. Commit to two days per week. One day per week will be spent in clay, and the other in metal. The clay and metal studios are located just down the hall from each other at the South Hill Business Campus. Enter ARTIST ALLEY at the rear of the building and follow signs for the youth class. See the course descriptions for each medium below.

METAL with Elaan Greenfield: Hammer, form, shape, texture, resin, sand, stamp, roll, oxidize, patina, etch, dap, saw, and cut your way through this fun after school program at The Metal Smithery! You will be given the tools and instruction on various equipment and methods to work on your own jewelry projects to create everything from resin rings to skull earrings to I love you bracelets. The possibilities are endless and every finished piece of jewelry will be something you will be proud to say, yes, I did make this!
